DIY Scarf Ideas

The cooler weather is finally upon us in the UAE, which means that it’s time to pull out your scarves ladies! Did you just open your scarf drawer and feel a great need to yawn? Don’t like anything you see? Sell some of your preloved scarves on Melltoo and make some extra money and room in your closet for “new” preloved buys. If, however, you are the creative type, here are 3 easy DIY scarf ideas that will make your old scarves look fabulously new!

1) Heart Pattern

Heart scarf

Materials needed

  • Piece of linoleum/card board/heart stamp
  • Scissors (depends on what you will use for a stamp)
  • Pencil
  • Gold or silver metallic paint (as per your preference)
  • Scarf

Instructions

  • Prepare your heart stamp from whatever is available
  • Layout out scarf
  • Clearly mark where the heart stamps will be
  • Dip heart stamp in paint and spread the love!

2) Chevron Pattern 

Materials neededChevron patter

  • Piece of linoleum/card board/arrow stamp
  • Fabric paint (pick suitable color for your scarf)
  • Scissors (depends on what you will use for a stamp)
  • Pencil
  • Scarf

Instructions

  • Prepare your chevron stamp from whatever is available
  • Layout out scarf
  • Clearly mark where the chevron stamps will be (or use your instincts)
  • Dip chevron stamp in paint and show everyone which direction the fun is!

3) Frozen Snow Boulder Pattern 

Materials neededfreezer-paper-scarf

  • Freezer paper
  • Scissors
  • Iron
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Craft knife
  • Cutting mat
  • Fabric paint (pick suitable color for your scarf)
  • Foam brush

Instructions

  • Measure the width of scarf
  • Decide the height of the design
  • Cut two identical rectangles of freezer paper suitable for the width and height chosen above
  • Lay one sheet of freezer paper above the other
  • Draw as many hexagonal shapes as possible on the uncoated side of the freezer paper (they don’t have to be perfect)
  • Use the craft knife and the cutting mat to cut the hexagons out (one sheet at a time)
  • Iron the shiny side of the freezer paper stencil to the scarf
  • Dip your foam brush in fabric paint and dream about hot chocolate!
