Declutter Your Home in 5 Easy Steps

Are you running out of storage space? Are you tired of wasting time looking for things in bottomless piles of stuff? Are you ready for a fresh start? If you said yes to all of these questions than you are ready to declutter your home with Mellttoo! These are 5 easy steps that you, your family and your friends can take to make 2015 a clutter-free year.

1- Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail

Keeping yourself motivated when you declutter can be challenging if you don’t have a plan-to-decluttergood plan in place. The most successful plans are the ones that are best tailored to your personality. If you are morning person, plan your
decluttering sessions in the mornings. If you like listening to classical musical while you work, crank up some Mozart. If you are easily distracted, work 1-hour intervals so you don’t lose focus. Don’t let little obstacles get in the way of accomplishing your goal. Ultimately, if you make sure that you have enough time, energy and food to keep you going, you should have a clutter free home in no time.

2- Declutter and Connect with your Community

declutter-and-have-funAfter putting a solid plan in place, ask your family and friends to help and make your decluttering mission a community event. Make organizing fun by including games with baked prizes, lively music and Decluttering Storytime (a chance for you to share the memories of the stuff you are decluttering). When you finish organizing your stuff into keep, donate, sell on Melltoo and throw away piles, invite your helpers to take the things that they want from each pile. Once you have cleaned and your helpers have left the house (hopefully with a smile on their face and a full stomach) you are ready to start posting your stuff on Melltoo.

3- Plan a Photo shoot

Have you always dreamed of being a photographer? Well, now’s the time to make your dream come trudeclutter-and-selle. Plan a fun photo shoot with the things that you are going to post on Melltoo. Let your creative juices flow! Take pictures of your stuff and experiment with different backgrounds, filters, filters and locations before you post your items. If you’re selling preloved clothes, don’t put them on a hanger, invite your friends over and ask them to be models for your Frugal Fashionista shoot. If you really want to get creative, try to bring your things to life by telling their story, by weaving the narrative into the picture and the description segment on Melltoo. No matter what you do, make sure you are having loads of fun while you’re doing it!

4-Host an Open House Day

Here at Melltoo, we believe that everything is more fun when you can get the codeclutter-partymmunity involved, which is why our philosophy is the more the merrier. Once you have posted your stuff on the app, invite your friends and neighbors to look at it by downloading Melltoo and searching for your username. After giving them a couple of days to look at your stuff, schedule two open house events where people can come and pick up the things that they want to buy. Tell people that it’s first come, first serve. If they know there are no guarantees they are likely to race over to get what they want before anyone else does. Make your open house day more fun by making it an all-day event with family and friends. Ask your friends and neighbors to bring salads, main courses and desserts and enjoy good food and a nice chat while you sell your stuff and declutter your life!

5- Reward yourself with a new purchase

Once you have decluttered and rearranged your things, reward yourself by scrolling throdeclutter-with-dubai-classifiedsugh Melltoo’s feed and searching for some “new” items to liven up your newly organized house. If you’re looking for specific items, look our different categories or use Melltoo’s search function. If you’re looking for something handmade, check out the growing community of artists and crafters in Melltoo’s m-boutique category. When you figure out what you want to buy, press on the Contact Me button for each seller and organize a day and a pick up time for each item. After picking everything up and arranged it in your house, sit down and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done!
