There are 3 ways to pay on Melltoo:

  • Credit Card.
  • In-app Melltoo credit.
  • Cash on Delivery

 

Upon purchase you will be prompted to input your credit card information. If you DO NOT have a credit card – you can use one of the readily available pre-paid card options – we have listed some options available at the end of this article.

Paying with Melltoo credit

Melltoo Free Credit is Melltoo’s oldest reward for our loyal and active community members. You can earn up to 1,000AED (maximum amount for the life of the account) by referring friends to join the Melltoo community or by participating in our promotional campaigns.

50% rule and free credit spending  limits

Every buyer can pay up to 50%* of the price of each item with free credit (up to a maximum of 300 AED*). The remaining should be paid by cash balance, credit cards or cash on delivery.

Melltoo has long supported its community of buyers and sellers to sell unique items since 2014. We count on your support to help us sustain our growth in the next few years.

Expiration

You may use your free credit as long as it is valid. Free credit may come to an expiration date after which you may no longer use the free credit on the Melltoo app. It will be removed from your Melltoo wallet.

If you are still eligible to refer new users to join Melltoo community, you will be able to earn new free credit just like before.

As of March 10, 2017, all free credit earned after September 2016 will expire on Tuesday April 10th, 2017.

What if I don’t have a credit card?

Pre-paid card solutions!

In the UAE, you can only use credit cards to make an online purchase. With the growing number of people buying things online in the UAE, various banks and companies have started to make prepaid cards available to people who don’t have a credit card or a bank account. Here is a list of prepaid cards in UAE that Melltoo buyers can use to buy their next great deal!

1) MYNETCARD VISA CARD FROM MAJID AL FUTTAIM

Cost: Cheap

The card costs 10 AED over the counter and it is valid for 1 year.

Ease to obtain: Easy

You can buy a MyNetCard from any Carrefour, Al Fardan Exchange, Geant, ENOC, EPPCO, Zoom and Al Ghurair Exchange across the UAE.

Card Limits: Low

When you buy a MyNetCard, you have to load a minimum of 100dhs and you can load up to 3500dhs. In order to reload a MyNetCard, you have to use a LoadNShop card, which you can also purchase from Majid Al Futtaim. However, if you choose not to purchase one, you can’t top up a MyNetCard. So, if you buy a MyNetCard, you’ll have to estimate how much money you want to spend online, so you can load the correct amount on your card when you purchase it.

What fees can be incurred by using this card?

  • Online Purchase Fees: If you purchase something online that costs less than 30dhs you are charged a 1dh fee
  • Inactivity Fee: If your card is inactive for more than 6 months, you are charged 10 dhs each month thereafter

2) TRAVELEZ VISA CARD FROM AL FARDAN EXCHANGE

Cost: Reasonable

A standard Travelez card costs 30dhs and it is valid for 1 year.

Ease to obtain: Easy  

A Travelez card can be purchased at any Fardan Exchange, as long as you have UAE I.D. card. You can purchase a TravelezAED, which you can load with dirhams or a TravelezUSD, which you can load with dollars.

Card Limits: High

Neither the TravelezAED nor the TravelezUSD has a purchasing limit and they can be used

globally at any online or offline outlet or ATM that accepts visa cards. The maximum limit for each card is 35,000dhs and 10,000USD respectively and the maximum daily ATM withdrawal limit is 10,000dhs and 2,000USD respectively. While you can load up to 12,000dhs on the TravelezAED card and 3000USD on the TravelezUSD card per day, you can only top them up at a Al Fardan Exchange branches.

What fees can be incurred by using this card?

  • Reload Fee: There is a fee of 5dhs everytime you reload your card
  • Inactivity Fee: If your card is inactive for more than 6 months, you are charged 10 dhs per month for a TravelezAED card and 3 dollars per month for a TravelezUSD card.

3) GCARD VISA CARD FROM GROUPON

Cost:  Cheap

A Groupon card is 20dhs and is valid for 2 years

Ease to obtain: Easy

After filling an online application, you can go to any ENOC, EPPCO, Zoom, Al Ghurair Exchange, Al Fardan Exchange or the Groupon HQ to purchase a GCard. Regardless of which location you buy it from, you will need to present an original passport with a valid UAE Residence/Visit Visa, an Emirates ID card and a passport photograph to get your card.

Card Limits: High

The maximum limit for the GCard is 20,000dhs and they can be used

globally at any online or offline outlet or ATM that accepts Visa cards. The daily ATM withdrawal limit is 5000dhs and you can load anywhere between 100 to 10,000dhs on a GCard per day. While you can load up to 10,000dhs per day, the GCards can only be reloaded by a transfer from another GCard or at the Groupon HQ, ENOC, EPPCO, Zoom, Al Ghurair Exchange, Al Fardan Exchange, Carrefour and Geant.

What fees can be incurred by using this card?

 

  • Online Purchase Fee: If you purchase something online that cost less than 30dhs you are charged a 1dh fee
  • Reload Fee: There is a fee of 5dhs everytime you reload your card
  • Inactivity Fee: If your card is inactive for more than 6 months, you are charged 10 dhs per month thereafter
  • Card-to-Card Transfer Fee: A transfer made from one GCard to another costs the sender 5dhs

4) LOADED & BLING MASTERCARDS FROM RAK BANK

  1. i) Cost: Reasonable

Although the RAK Bank card is the most expensive out of the 4 we’ve reviewed, at 35dhs, it has a validity of 2 years and is very versatile.

  1. ii) Ease to obtain: Difficult

Comparatively speaking, it takes longer to get a card if you aren’t a RAK Bank account holder, because you have to go to a branch with a passport copy and an original photo ID to get one. However, if you are RAK Bank account holder, you can complete the online application for the pre-paid cards and get it sent to your home or pick it up from any RAK Bank branch.

  1. ii) Card Limits: High

The Bling and Loaded cards have a 50,000dhs limit with a 1000 dhs ATM withdrawal limit and can be used globally at any online or offline outlet or ATM that accepts  Mastercards. If you’re a RAK Bank account holder, you can easily reload your account by transferring money from your online bank account or an RAK Bank ATM. However, even if you’re not an RAK bank account holder, you can use the electronic deposits machines at any RAK Bank branch to reload your card or you can go to UAE Exchange, Al Ansari Exchange, Al Fardan Exchange, Sharaf Exchange, Redha Al-Ansari Exchange or Lulu International Exchange to deposit money in your Bling or Loaded cards.
